Total number of active connections in Belgium (3.448.810) increased by 0,91%. 

During the third quarter of 2011, the number of  residential connections grew to 2.801.269, which represents an increase of 1,02% compared with the previous quarter.

On the business market, there has been an increase of 0,42% compared to the previous quarter, to a total number of 647.541 lines.

The growth of the number of broadband connections, however, is slowing. Compared to the third quarter of 2010 the net number of new broadband connections has decreased by 37%. This number also decreased in the second quarter.

Broadband connections represent 98,8% of the total number of residential connections and 99,7% of the total number of business connections.

Total number of active connections in Belgium (3.417.827) increased by 0,96%.

During the second quarter of 2011,  residential connections grew to 2.772.966 lines, which is an increase of 1,08% compared with last quarter. Nearly 99% of all residential connections in Belgium are broadband connections.

On the  business market, there was an increase of 0,47% to 644.861 lines compared with the first quarter of 2011. Only about 2000 older dial-up connections remain active, which represents 0,36% of all connections used for professional purposes.

ISPA was happy to welcome over 60 participants at its Annual Networking Cocktail 2011 on 7 June, covering a wide internet related audience; ranging from the internet industry, to press, regulator and policymaking stakeholders. The Cocktail started with a welcome speech by Henri-Jean Pollet -Chairman of ISPA Belgium- followed by an introduction by Luc Windmolders -Director Corporate Affairs at KPN Group Belgium- and a keynote speech by David Valentiny -IT adviser at the Cabinet of Minister Marcourt.

Total number of active connections in Belgium (3,387,643) increased by 1.83%. 

During the first quarter of 2011 the  residential connections grew by 2,748,294 lines, which is an increase of 2.46% compared to last quarter. Nearly 99% of all residential connections in Belgium are broadband connections.

On the business market, there was a slight decrease -0.81% to 639,349 lines compared to the fourth quarter of 2010, which is mostly due to the 37% decline of the old dial-up connections (-1386 lines) that are no longer used by companies.
