The internet is a complex infrastructure, and in this uncertain time, it allows many of us the possibility to work despite not being in our usual workspace, to communicate with loved ones despite not seeing them in person, and to be informed on the latest global developments, among many other things.

Many things have changed and the vulnerabilities of our societies have been painfully exposed. Hence, this is the ideal time to reflect about what has kept us connected during this time and what will increasingly be one of the dominant sectors of our economies. For this reason, ISPA Belgium is thrilled to announce that we will host our annual event this Autumn 2020 have a productive discussion on the future of the connectivity and the digital opportunities for Belgium. 4.547.084 Internet connections in Q1 2020 according to the ISPA market survey

The total number of active Internet connections in Belgium has reached 4.547.084 in Q1 2020. This represents an increase of 2,71 % over the last year and a slight increase of 0,68 % since the last quarter of 2019.  

20 August 2020 – The total number of active internet connections in Belgium was 4.547.084 during the first quarter of 2020. This represents an increase of 0,68 % compared to Q4 2019. The number of residential connections grew to a total of 4.110.623 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 2.87 % in comparison with the same period in 2019 and of 0.72 % compared to the fourth quarter of 2019.

In the business market, the number of internet connections increased as well to 436.461, which represents an increase of 1,16 % compared with Q4 of 2019 and an increase of 0,34 % compared to Q4 2019.

We note in Q1 2020 that there is a net growth of 119.872 connections compared to Q1 2019.
