Market Survey 58 – Q4/2013

The total number of active Internet connections in Belgium ( 3.771.019) increased by 1.29%  in the last quarter of 2013.

The number of residential connections grew to a total of 3.092.657 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 1,52% over the fourth quarter.

In the business market the number of Internet connections has increased with 1676 to  678.326 lines, which represents an increase of 0,25% compared with the previous quarter. The total number of dialup connections dropped further to 179.

In the fourth quarter of 2013 there is a net growth of 47.908 connections compared to Q3 – 2013, which is mainly due to the  46.231 new broadband lines in the residential segment

Market Survey 57 – Q3/2013

The number of residential connections grew to a total of 3.046.462 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 0.77% over the third quarter.

In the business market the number of Internet connections has been reduced with 687 to 676.664 lines, which represents a decrease of 0.1% over the previous quarter. The total number of dialup connections dropped further to 194.

In the third quarter of 2013 there is a net growth of 22.523 connections compared to Q2 – 2013, which is mainly due to the 23.312 new broadband lines in the residential segment

Market survey 56 – Q2/2013

The total number of active Internet connections in Belgium (3.700.603) increased by 0.76%  in the second quarter of 2013.

The number of residential connections grew to a total of 3.023.252 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 0.95% over the second quarter. For the first time the residential market crossed the level of 3 million connections in Belgium.

In the business market the number of Internet connections has been reduced with 531 to 677.351 lines, which represents a decrease of 0.08% over the previous quarter. The total number of dial-up connections dropped further from 357 to 341.

In the second quarter of 2013 there is a net growth of 27.893 connections compared to Q1 – 2013, which is mainly due to the 28.440 new broadband lines in the residential segment.

Market survey 55 – Q1/2013

The total number of active Internet connections in Belgium (3.672.710) increased by 1,07%  in the first quarter of 2013.

The number of residential connections grew to a total of 2.994.812 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 1,21%  over the first quarter.

In the business market the number of Internet connections grew to 677.898, which represents a growth of 0.44% over the previous quarter. The total number of dialup connections dropped to 357 and therefore becomes insignificant.

In the first quarter of 2013 there is a net growth of 38.706 connections compared to Q4 – 2012, which is mainly due to the 38.764 new broadband lines, of which the majority (92%) in the residential segment.

The total number of active Internet connections in Belgium (3.634.004) increased by 1,06%  in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The number of residential connections grew to a total of 2.959.078 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 1,29%  over the third quarter.

In the business market the number of Internet connections grew to 674.926, which represents a growth of 0,07% over the previous quarter. The reason of this stagnation is mainly due to the complete cessation of the last “dialup” connections” (-69,39%).

Over the whole year 2012 there is a net growth of 152.237 connections compared to 2011, which is mainly due to the 156.173 new broadband lines, of which the majority (82%) in the residential segment. The total net growth in 2012 was quasi equal to the one in 2011.

The total number of active Internet connections in Belgium (3,595,747) increased by 1.02% in the third quarter of 2012.

The number of residential connections grew by 29,076 lines to a total of 2,921,302 connections in Belgium. This represents an increase of 1.01% over the previous quarter.
In the business market the number of Internet connections grew by 7,082 new lines to 674,445, which represents a growth of 1.06% over the previous quarter.

Both for the consumer and business markets there are almost no more ISPs that offer the older “dialup” connections, as a result of which 99.97% of the of the connections are broadband connections.
